The Proper Way to Entertain Your Audience with a Funny Speech

By Tyler Robinson

Entertaining your audience with an amusing speech can seem a little daunting, but with a little personal research inside yourself and a little humour it can be done. There are some great funny speech ideas at AboutTopics.com that can help you on your way as well. Make the speech interesting, entertaining and never let them see you cry, but accept the challenge with some humour.

When giving a funny speech bring the listeners in and make them a part of the speech. Topics can be something like: get up or go back to sleep; are we really that lazy; are we all becoming our parents; are we dumber than a 5th grader; and what are our pets really thinking. These subjects are very good, because everybody can relate to them and these things are funny.

Advice:

Never demean or belittle your listeners, laugh with them not at them. Put yourself in the speech; let the listeners feel your pain, ha, ha. Sympathy from your audience is usually good. Keep them laughing and let them become part of the your speech. Keep it light and simple, no one likes to think too hard about anything. If you lose them at some particular point bring them back with honesty: tell them you're uncomfortable or that this could be difficult for you. They are going to understand and it's possible to get them realize that we all stumble but we get back up and say it with a little humor.

Surprise the onlookers, be confident, and stay with the course, be consistent and stick to it. Be honest with the audience, don't try and force jokes or humor down their throats, talk of things that happen to all of us every day. Talk about something we all can relate to, or things that we all get mad about, and incorporate it into regardless of what your speech is about.

Humour doesn't have to be spiteful or vulgar, it just must be based primarily on a kind of truth and it's going to be amusing because everybody gets it. The small guy appears to always loose out, the nice guy loses the girl and the geek doesn't get the girl. These things are sad, but true and are always funny. Funny speech topics can originate from everyday mishaps or hiccups in society. Everybody has a story to tell and something to say, that is how jokes and some funny speeches are born.
