Choosing The Proper Cell Phone: Nokia C2-01 Review

By John Conner

When the time comes to shop for a cell phone or mobile service provider, there is a myriad of choices available that may be overwhelming at times. Each device advertises different features and specifications such as screens, buttons, technology, and style. Once you're aware of what the options are, making a decision shouldn't be that difficult so long as you take some time to discover what you want in a phone. For those who wish nothing more than an easy to use, uncomplicated, inexpensive, but trustworthy device, the Nokia C2-01 should be one of the top choices.

This compact device is small enough to fit into your pocket, which is convenient when compared to large, bulky, phones which require a bag or purse. It relinquishes such smart-phone features as a touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and a video-call camera. It is an uncomplicated and straightforward handset device.

Other features include a video recorder and 3.2 megapixel camera, but one shouldn't expect the video quality to be very high when watching them from a computer or television screen. The phone itself does not possess enough storage space to take many photos, but it does support a microSD card which can be purchased separately. These cards can add up to 16 GB of extra space on the phone, which will allow you more freedom to shoot videos and take photos.

If you're one of those who prefer to be connected wherever you are, this phone also features 3G connectivity which facilitates speedy surfing. Though the screen is a bit too small to make web surfing convenient, the mobile phone has other interesting qualities such as a preloaded Facebook application for checking updates and friends' reports. It is also possible to download more applications from the "Ovi Store" directly on the phone, which is a feature rarely found in other phones within a similar price range.

While the buttons found on the keypad are made of cheaper quality compared to other mobile devices, they are also clear and uncomplicated to use.

Transferring data from the mobile phone to your computer is made easier with its mini USB port. This also makes it possible to charge the device right from your computer. You can also connect headphones to it using the 3.5 mm socket. If you prefer to charge the phone the traditional way, it also includes a wall charger which connects to a port on the device.

There is no need to be tied to a contract with this phone, since it can be purchased at a relatively low price and used on a pay-as-you-go basis with many mobile companies. With an investment of less than 100 dollars, this simple handset is an ideal communication tool for those with a limited budget.

The Nokia C2-01 is not to be compared with current smart-phones advertised by such companies as Samsung or LG, but in terms of getting a lot for your dollar, this phone should be seriously considered. When put alongside other simple handsets, it will not disappoint those who expect a quality phone with advanced technology.
