Advantages Of Simultaneous Translation Equipment

By Marcy Becker

There is no one specific language that is spoken throughout the whole world. Different people from different countries and continents speak different languages. During conferences where people have been invited from different countries, communication becomes a problem due to the language barrier. This has led to the development of Simultaneous translation equipment which enables interpretation of one language into a variety of languages.

There are mainly two types of the above apparatus that are commonly used: the infrared and the Radio frequency type. The infrared one is an electromagnetic radiation whose wavelength is not as long as radio waves but longer than light. This kind is suitable where the range of transmission is restricted due to the sensitivity of matters being discussed. Furthermore they are also very essential in areas where the radio frequency is not well managed thus great interference with the FM frequencies. The main disadvantage of this kind however is that it cannot be transmitted over a long range and it needs a professional to do the installation.

The other type, the radio frequency kind is more superior than the infrared. This is because it can transmit over long ranges. The equipment also has different frequencies which may be of use one they have been installed. The installation process is simple and requires a person with basic sound knowledge to do the installation.

Language barrier is the greatest barrier that people attending a conference may experience. Having the above apparatus ensures that this is eliminated. Each individual is normally given a headset as they walk into the place where the meeting is held. This apparatus thus enables a person to select the language they understand best and thus be at par with the one giving the speech.

The translation apparatus enables the interpretation to occur simultaneously. As the person giving the speech talks, their speech is translated into several languages instantly. This ensures that everyone attending the meeting is at par and no one is left behind.

The interpretation is made possible by means of a headset that is normally given to each individual attending the meeting. As the one giving the speech talks, interpretation takes place simultaneously. A lot of time is thus saved since they do not have to pause and let a person interpret before they continue talking.

Communication is only considered to be communication if there is feedback. Feedback is possible if the person providing the feedback has clearly understood the idea the other individual was trying to put across. Since there is no language barrier feedback can be easily provided by the attendees. In addition the attendee can provide their feedback using their own language which will be translate into the different languages.

Once people are able to communicate effectively by use of the simultaneous translation equipment, the aim of the meeting is thus met. This is because people organize conferences to provide avenues of exchange of ideas from different people all over the world. This is made possible since there is no language barrier.
